A compact and compliant toilet module, brightened by smart design above

The Rolen WC is a compact restroom unit developed for commuter trains. Its development posed a significant challenge due to the limited space available in this type of railcar. Despite the constraints, the design successfully integrates a toilet, sink with faucet and soap dispenser, mirror, waste bin, and paper dispenser—all in full compliance with railway safety and accessibility regulations.

Within the constraints of such a tight space, the ceiling became the key opportunity for design freedom. In addition to general lighting, the unit features a translucent overhead ceiling that allows for the integration of thematic imagery—such as tree leaves or sky-like visual compositions.

This solution not only brings additional ambient light into the space, but also creates a more open and pleasant atmosphere, compensating for the compact size and lack of windows.
